Last week, I celebrated Martin Luther King’s birthday with a day of service organized by City Year DC that involved painting a panorama mural of African wildlife at Community Academy Public Charter School. My sister was a zone leader in the project and Frank, a friend since high school, was our group leader. There were many more projects going on in the same building and at Dunbar High School next door. Simply, the people who came out to serve with City Year that day as well as people who serve everyday, nationwide, are truly inspiring.
